“Have you seen the new anti-money laundering training video?" It’s incredible, you’ve got to go do the module!”
- Not an actual quote, but a fair representation of the 2672 employees at St James’s Place
The Brief.
The Learning & Development team at St James’s Place have been looking to push the boundaries of L&D for some time. Already using VR headsets as part of their training, they were certainly not afraid to go big with the long and info-filled Anti-Money Laundering module that all staff have to complete.
In their first meeting with our team, they talked about a prison, a court house and a celebrity personality to present the module. They needed to completely revamp on the training videos that had become monotonous tick-box exercises that staff dreaded.
Anti-Money Laundering Training
The Process.
-
This was no simple training video. Our team started by drafting a script and involving a director to bring to life that engagement SJP wanted. The scope of the project became clear as the script draft neared 25 pages, with locations like a courthouse, a surveillance van and an interrogation room.
-
With the script now in the hands of our production team, our in-house First AD broke down the script and the team began to scout locations, cast over 40 talent and work with the art department to make props and set dressing. At the same time, our creative team designed 3 sets to be build in our studios. With casting complete, the wardrobe designer finalised the costume for every actor and last work was done on the sets and props. Production schedule ready, our team set out for a 5-day shoot.
-
Our full production unit went from location to location shooting with 50+ crew, 40+ talent & SA’s as well as our lovely clients. Finally, they all returned to our studios for 2 days of filming on the sets that had been under construction whilst they were away.
-
Our post-production team worked with our client in our editing labs to cut an incredible film together whilst ensuring it was compliant with SJP’s internal rules & regulations. The final cut closer resembled a short film rather than a training video and it was finally ready to be used on the SJP internal training platform. It was delivered as an 18-minute film with subtitles, as well as individual scenes to be used as training blocks.
Giving life to what was once a boring tick-box exercise is more than just making another corporate video.
This is more than just content.
